RT#9: Investigating Ovarian and Prostate Cancers
on Jan 30 2019

Dear All,

Please join us on Wednesday 30 January, 2019 at the OSA House at 1700hrs for the 9th Round Table/Panel Discussion with our host Dr. Ghassan Hallak '67.

Dr. Ghassan Hallak has a B. Sc. in Combined Bacteriology and Biochemistry from the University of Leeds, a Ph. D. in Chemical Pathology from the University of London, and has trained in three major London hospitals.  He returned to Lebanon in 1978 to take up the post of head of laboratory at Bhannes Hospital where he stayed till 2005; he then opened his own private laboratory, Laboratoires St. Elie in Antelias. In 2014, his laboratory became the first Lebanese laboratory to become accredited by the European accreditation standard, ISO 15189. To this day, it is still the only laboratory in Lebanon to attain such a quality standard.

We are very fortunate to have Dr Hallak speak to us about the prevalence of ovarian and prostate cancers, why it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint the causes, and how to detect them.

Dr Hallak will review the different tumor markers used to detect ovarian and prostate cancers, the importance of early detection, when to test for them, and how such tests may detect cancers before signs or symptoms appear.

Old Scholars and friends of Old Scholars who are interested in attending this session should kindly register by either sending an email to [email protected] or by calling 04-964454.

Everyone Welcome!
